"That serve was an ace!"
Occurs when a person serves the ball, and it either lands in bounds on the opponent's side of the court or is not legally returned over the net. It is considered an ace because the opponent's don't touch the ball before it makes contact with the ground.
"Get both hands above the net and block that ball!"
When you prevent the ball from crossing the net when the opponent is hitting the ball. Typically, two players will attempt to jump in an upward motion with their arms/hands facing the net in order to stop the ball from coming over.
" Lets go girls, sideout!"
A situation in which a team earns the right to serve while gaining a point by winning a rally. Once the opponent makes a mistake or fails to send the ball over the net in three touches, the opposite teams wins the point and then takes possession of the ball for a serve.
"That was a great Rally."
An ongoing play throughout the match. Once a team serves, a rally may begin and doesn't stop until either team makes a mistake or fails to get the ball to opponents side in three touches or less.
"Set pipe!"
When the setter (player in charge for second touch) sets up a player in the back row for a hit. This normally occurs on the third contact. When setting pipe, player must not cross the 10 foot line on the court until making contact with the ball.
